Survivors describe vivid hallucinations, missing childhood memories, and an unbearable craving that no food can satisfy.
As Elara digs deeper, she uncovers a hidden society called The Communion Table, whose members ingest distilled human memories harvested through ritual feasts held in catacombs under the monastery. The process grants euphoric access to stolen lives and emotions, but it also feeds a buried organism entombed beneath Saint Vale since medieval times—a blind, fleshy intelligence that communicates through hunger itself. The creature has begun awakening, manipulating the town through compulsive appetites, sleepwalking rituals, and violent acts of cannibalistic obsession. Elara becomes trapped in a psychological cat-and-mouse game with the society’s charismatic leader, Father Orsik, who believes the entity is humanity’s true god.
When roads collapse during a blizzard and the town seals itself off from the outside world, Saint Vale descends into famine-driven madness. Elara discovers her own late mother once escaped the cult and that fragments of her memories were fed to the creature decades earlier. In the final confrontation deep beneath the monastery, Elara sabotages the underground feast chambers and floods the catacombs, forcing the starving entity to consume the society that worshipped it. She escapes at dawn carrying a recovered fragment of her mother’s memory—only to realize, in the final moments, that she no longer remembers her own face.
