Mara Vale, a gifted court interpreter recovering from a public breakdown, takes an unusual private job inside an ultra-exclusive apartment tower where residents communicate through elaborate silent reenactments instead of direct speech. Her assignment is to assist Elias, a mute tenant accused of threatening his neighbors through cryptic gestures and staged tableaux visible through the building’s enormous glass atrium. The deeper Mara investigates, the more the building itself seems engineered to destabilize certainty.
