Elias Vey, a grieving clocktower musician who repairs the city’s ancient automated chimes, lives quietly above the streets, hiding the fact that he still composes vibrant melodies in secret. His life changes when he encounters Mirelle, a daring tailor who stitches coded musical patterns into clothing for an underground network of emotional dissidents.

When Elias discovers abandoned mechanical songbirds hidden inside the city’s oldest clocktower—intricate devices capable of harmonizing with human heartbeats—he and Mirelle begin orchestrating spontaneous musical performances across crowded markets and transit stations. Each performance awakens buried memories and feelings in the citizens, sparking joy, grief, rage, and love throughout Valmere. As their forbidden songs spread, the authoritarian Ministry of Calm deploys enforcers to hunt the mysterious performers responsible for the growing emotional unrest. Meanwhile, Elias and Mirelle fall deeply in love, but their bond strains under the danger of becoming symbols of a revolution neither fully intended to start.

After the Ministry captures Mirelle during a citywide crackdown, Elias learns the government plans to permanently silence the population using a massive resonance engine hidden beneath the central opera house. In a final act of defiance, he hijacks Valmere’s entire clockwork network during the annual Silence Festival, unleashing a sweeping musical cascade through thousands of mechanical birds soaring above the city. Citizens erupt into spontaneous song, overwhelming the regime’s control as Mirelle escapes and joins Elias for a soaring duet atop the opera house roof at sunrise. Though Valmere’s future remains uncertain, the city rediscovers its ability to feel—and to sing.
