The Ivory Run

In 1911 British East Africa, Elias Rooke, a once-renowned game tracker ruined by a disastrous expedition, survives a brutal attack aboard the luxury rail line known as the Ivory Run when masked raiders seize a shipment of ceremonial ivory artifacts bound for European collectors. The only other survivor is Safiya Njoroge, a fiercely intelligent railway engineer who notices the thieves ignored the shipment’s diamonds and targeted only a specific set of carved tusks. When colonial authorities dismiss the robbery as banditry, Safiya discovers microscopic carvings hidden inside the ivory reveal fragments of a coded topographical map tied to a lost mineral reserve rumored to finance an uprising—or an empire.

Pursued by mercenaries, railway police, and rival treasure hunters, Elias and Safiya race across steam-powered rail bridges, flooded savannas, and bustling port cities to decode the tusks before the ruthless commander behind the hijacking reaches the hidden site first. As trains derail, caravans are ambushed, and alliances fracture, Elias realizes the relics were carved by prisoners forced to conceal the location generations earlier. The deeper they dig, the more they uncover a conspiracy involving railroad magnates, military officials, and a private army preparing to weaponize the discovery.

The chase culminates inside a half-collapsed mountain rail tunnel where the hidden reserve is revealed not to be gold, but a rare explosive crystal capable of reshaping modern warfare. Elias and Safiya turn the enemy factions against one another during a violent locomotive battle through the tunnel network, exposing the conspiracy to the world while narrowly preventing a catastrophic detonation. In the aftermath, Safiya publishes the truth behind the stolen relics and the atrocities surrounding them, while Elias finally abandons the colonial hunting circuits that destroyed his reputation, choosing instead to help protect the land he once exploited.
