As more townspeople begin suffering vivid episodes of stolen memories and emotional breakdowns, Elara and Tomas uncover evidence that the perfume was originally engineered by a disgraced chemist obsessed with preserving love through scent. Each fragrance blend contains trace oils harvested from personal artifacts—letters, clothing, even human hair—allowing wearers to experience fragments of another person’s emotional life. But someone in Blackwater Bay has recreated the formula and is using it to manipulate witnesses connected to an unsolved century-old murder hidden beneath the town’s respectable façade.
