Dust Spurs & Daydream Gears

8/10

A timid frontier clockmaker and her runaway, half‑built mechanical horse must cross an untamed desert to stop a corrupt land baron from turning the last free town into a wind‑powered empire.

Inventive steampunk‑western worldbuilding and a heartfelt hero’s journey make it appealing and marketable, though the ensemble and plot could be streamlined for sharper coherence.

Plot

In the animated frontier town of Latchspur, shy young clockmaker Millie Bramble dreams of adventure but mostly repairs busted pocket watches and mail carts. When she secretly assembles a mechanical horse—Giddy, a jittery, half‑finished invention with more heart than gears—she accidentally witnesses the ruthless land baron Clayburn Pike testing a massive wind‑harvester designed to seize all surrounding ranchlands by sucking the region’s wind channels into his control.

Millie and Giddy flee across the desert to warn the neighboring settlements, chased by Clayburn’s steam‑powered enforcers and an elite rider who knows every canyon by memory. Along the way, Millie meets a ragtag posse—an air‑sailor who rides desert thermals, a retired outlaw who speaks in wind metaphors, and a child weather‑herder who can read the sky like a map—who teach her that courage doesn’t require a gun, only grit.

As Clayburn’s harvester nears completion, Millie returns to Latchspur for a final showdown. With the townsfolk united and Giddy upgraded with a storm‑catching gear core, they sabotage the machine in a spectacular desert whirlwind. Giddy nearly sacrifices himself to save the town, but Millie’s quick thinking resurrects him, proving the wind—and the frontier—belongs to everyone brave enough to stand for it.
